Introducing Polygothic, a new Century Gothic-inspired font that will include support for many more languages to come! Currently, there is support for some Latin and Cyrillic characters! This font has good readability at medium sizes and should work well as a dialogue or display font. I hope to make thicker versions to encourage readability at lower font sizes as well.

This is the first font I've made that includes kerning, and it's been... a bit of a learning process. The font program I use (FontCreator 14) does have an automatic kerning function, but it really bloats the file and makes it hard to work with, and it also only works for Latin and not other scripts that will also need it, like Cyrillic and Greek. Currently, I'm doing kerning my band. On the positive side, FontCreator has a really great interface for hammering this out. The problem is, you have to sit there and hammer it out. Taking a look at the screen shot, under LATN-Kern you can see I've manually made 670 kerning adjustments, which results in 54745 pairs of individual glyphs. Adding any more blocks will increase the number of adjustments that need to be made, also increasing the time needed to get things done. I'm currently looking for a better solution, but until then any scripts that need kerning will take a fair amount of time to produce.

Time commitment aside, I'm really happy with the results. I wanted something fairly plain and geometric like Century Gothic but with an extra bit of flavor. Feel free to take a look through the font and see for yourself!

Going forward, I'd like to add more punctuation and symbols, and then move onto to Arabic and Korean, neither of which should involve kerning! Like Seven Fifteen, I plan to grow this font more over time. But, in addition to that I'd like to make this into a font family to make it more versatile. Keep an eye on this space!
